STORYTELLING: EMPOWERED VOICES

On September 28, the New York City AIDS Memorial will once again welcome the Generations Project, sharing the stories of six women living with HIV/AIDS, which have been too often overlooked or marginalized throughout the epidemic. “We have many, many stories,” says co-organizer, activist Shirlene Cooper, “and I want to make sure women’s voices remain on the frontlines.”

PAST EVENT: DAVID WOJNAROWICZ: 70 YEARS

On September 14, on the occasion of what would have been his 70th birthday, the David Wojnarowicz Foundation in collaboration with the New York City AIDS Memorial, Visual AIDS, and P·P·O·W staged a production of Wojnarowicz’s seminal monologues, The Waterfront Journals, with an incredible roster of special guest readers and music by Rimbaud Hattie.

The New York City AIDS Memorial is located at the corner of Greenwich Avenue and West 12 Street in New York’s historic West Village.

By Subway/Bus

Take the 1 2 3 F or M trains to 14th Street, the L train to 6th or 8th Avenue, or the A C or E trains to 8th Avenue. Nearest buses: M7, 14A, 14D, and M20. Learn more at the MTA→

Bicycle parking is available nearby. CitiBike stations are located at Perry Street & Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich Avenue & 8th Avenue, and West 13 Street & 7th Avenue

There is no official parking available at the New York City AIDS Memorial, but there are multiple paid parking and street parking locations in the surrounding neighborhood
